We arrived in Gainesville, GA Tuesday, June 6th for World Race Storrytelling Training. Wednesday, we wrapped up that session and met up with our squad for the next 10 days of Training Camp. Here’s a quick and dirty list of 11 things we took away from our 11 days of World Race Training:
1. AIM (Adventures in Missions) staff have such hearts for serving the Lord and others! Every single person was a joy to be around, and they were willing to share, impart, or assist with anything and everything.
2. Northern Georgia hills ain’t no joke; uphill both ways is a real thing. We decided that we really like our very flat coastal geography.
3. Strangers can quickly become family and can having a lasting impacts even after just a couple of days. We love our squad, our team, and our leadership, and we can’t wait to do live with them from here on out. And even those that won’t be launching with us will always have such a special place in our hearts!
4. You can go longer than you think (and maybe longer than you should) without taking a shower. Baby wipes are where it’s at, y’all!
5. Vulnerability is like those hard candies with the surprise soft centers. It’s really hard (and terrifying) on the outside, but it’s so sweet (and freeing) once you bite in.
6. 30 women really can get along without drama and cattiness when you decide up front what being a Woman of God looks like and not accepting anything less from yourself or your sisters.
7. 13 men can put aside pride, worldly “manliness”, and fear to truly create an intimate brotherhood within the first 5 days of meeting when they let the Holy Spirit lead them!
8. We really like the gear we have including our tent! However, no matter how hard you try, the ginormous Georgian ants will intrude into your space. Along with the Georgian red clay…
9. There is no feeling quite like the pure excitement that comes from seeing the port-a-potty cleaning truck roll onto campus!
10. 11 months of potential scenarios and situations crammed into 10 days is simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting.
11. This is exactly where God has called us to be! We both went into Training Camp feeling a little bit apprehensive, uneasy, unworthy and ill-equipped. However, throughout the entire time, our Good Father constantly reminded and reassured us that this is what He has for us right now. We are SO pumped!
We have so much more to share with y’all regarding our Training Camp and what the Lord is doing. We have 6 weeks left here, and we’d love to chat with you about it! If you’re local, let us know and we’ll catch up over food or coffee. And if you’re not close by, let’s catch up via a video call.
