For You Teachers of the World

There are some jobs that I truly admire and have the respect for the people that do them. These are jobs that take a lots of dedication, love, patience, and a desire to pursue and continue doing them. One of them is the agriculturist, who from the moment they plant their seeds spend time making sure their crop is properly fed and cared for so they can be the most fruitful. The other job that I admire and have grown to appreciate even more through the years are the educational teachers. For a high percentage of us, they are the reason we are where we are and not a lot of them get credit for it.

While we were in Honduras, there were some days where we were blessed to be able to visit schools up in the mountains of Talanga. Some days we went to provide food to the children and others days to teach as well. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk to a teacher in one of the schools to get a better understanding of teachers’ hearts. When I spoke with Mr. Dominguez, what was so amazing is the joy and smiles he showed as he was answering some of the questions I had about his profession and his students. After eleven years in his current school he states that the biggest satisfaction he gets is seeing his students grow to their maximum potential, and seeing them becoming successful men and women.

The biggest thing I appreciate about teachers is how some go beyond what is required to fill the needs of their students. I have met in Honduras, and also in the United States, teachers who helps students from low financial homes get their school supplies by seeking donations or purchasing items out of their own money so that the students can fully take advantage of the education. There are teachers out there who become mentors or even second parents while at school. They have a lot in their schedule yet they take the time to be there for their students, making them know they are important whether they are inside or outside their classroom.

Dear teachers of the world, thank you all for the job you do. Thank you for being so caring towards all the students that pass through your classroom. Thank you for all those who go beyond the classroom. Your dedication, love, patience, and desire for a better future to all your students is noticed, admired, and appreciated.

Dear students of the world, if you are still in school thank your teachers for all their efforts. If you are no longer in school and remember that one teacher who helped you out, whether it was academic related or life mentoring, I encourage you to seek out your teacher and thank them. I also encourage everyone to take time to pray for your teachers and with your teachers. Pray for God to continue filling them with strength, patience, health, and that they would never run out of love for what they do and for their students.
