Jamos and I are now in month 11 of 11 on The World Race! As you may have heard long ago, our route was changed from Vietnam to Malaysia. We are not sure why, but God knows.
We arrived in Malaysia on a flight from Phnom Penh and then the same day grabbed an overnight train to our current location in the Keletan Province in a town called Gua Masong.
Our train ride was good- it was our first time in a sleeper, which is SO MUCH better than sleeping over night in a chair. I was imagining a little room with 4 beds but when we got on the train the entire CAR of the train was lined with double rows of beds with little fabric curtains! It was basically a train slumber party.
We arrived at 7am and once we got off the train, we realized that HUGE mountains that shoot straight up from the ground surrounded us. It is gorgeous here!
Our ministry this month is teaching English! We get to teach at a center that not only is a legit school with white boards, books, and curriculum, but it also has Internet and air-conditioning! Are we spoiled or what?
On Saturdays we get to help around the center doing more manual labor. This past Saturday we spent painting the outside of the building and the kitchen/bathroom area of the center. We also weeding the garden in the back and Allison worked on a mural she has been painting for the center.
This month also involves us cooking for ourselves, which is fun, but what is not fun is the fact we have to be creative with an electric tea pot and a toaster. That is what we have to cook with…so, we have been eating ramen noodles with frozen veggies (you know I love my veggies) and peanut butter and jelly!
Last week we got to visit the Cameron Highlands, where they grow a LOT of veggies and TEA! It was a fantastic treat out for us.
There is street food around and the most popular item is a waffle with chocolate and peanut butter. YES PLEASE! I am bringing this idea back to the states…just have to fish out my waffle maker from storage…or did I sell it?
