Well, the time has come for another blog. We didn’t lead a trip anywhere this time… but it is with sad hearts we have to let the world know that our time serving with Adventures in Missions has come to a close.
I, Emily, have accepted a position at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL. I will be going back to my admissions roots serving as their campus visit coordinator.
It is crazy. God opened this door wide. We have been praying about next steps for a while now. Getting no where! God was being silent. At least that is what it felt like. Then, one day- I just prayed, Lord, please, let someone just call me and say, “I have this job for you…” and 2 days later, my friend who I worked with at Spring Arbor and also led us to the World Race- called me and said that I had been on her heart for this certain position and she finally just had to call me to tell me about it…
Fast forward 1.5 weeks- I had a job offer!
God has always allowed us to walk into the next step of life. And that is what I was waiting for. It wasn’t really my plan- I expected a job to open for Jamos before it opened for me- but, look, here it is. And we fully believe this is the stepping stone we need to take for Jamos to get to his next step (job/career). And so we boldly move forward.
Not saying this isn’t a scary decision. Not saying it was an easy decision that I knew I would take. But, none the less- after tears and prayers – here we are. We are moving north. Just as winter is arriving.
We have given nearly 3 years of our lives to Adventures in Missions. Year 1- preparing for the World Race- that was a scary move! Lots of fundraising. Year 2- The World Race! That was a great year of serving around the world. Year 3- working at the main office learning new skills and being house mentors for 10-13 women.
It has been a good run and we fully believe in the mission of Adventures. It is just time for us to allow someone else to take our place and get the opportunities we have been given while working at Adventures.
We will still be able to lead short term trips (like Western PA and Ecuador) which we have loved doing.
We could NOT have done this without your support. I know I say it a lot, but without your support, we wouldn’t have been able to have the 3 years we have been given. God has changed us in good ways and we have been refined in the fire of this last year. We are grateful for you and all of your kind words as you have read our blogs and followed us on this journey. A million times thank you…
