We arrived in El Carmen, Ecuador at about 11ish via the back of a truck on Sunday July 17, 2011 after a 4.5 hour bus ride. It is hard to describe what El Carmen is like… Upon arriving from Quito, one of the first things that I noticed is the drastic difference in climate in comparison. Here we are southwest of Quito toward the coast, which brings humidity. But I feel so blessed to have made contact with our host family for the next month, Elmer and Carmen. They have such a big heart for the city in which they live.
This month our ministry is going to be very diverse and look forward to updating you on these ministries as we continue to go deeper into our city. Without a doubt my team (Powerful Whisper) is going to change this city. My Spanish has continued to be challenged on a daily basis, but God has constantly given me the words that I need in order to communicate effectively with our host for this month.
