Fundraising.
The thing I’ve dreaded my whole life because asking people for money is hard.
It’s awkward. It’s uncomfortable. It just feels weird.
In fact, as a kid, when my school did a fundraiser, my mom would usually buy a few items and give them away as gifts. That way, I met my fundraising quota, and I never had to financially burden someone else.
Nevertheless, here I am getting ready to fundraise more money than I’ve ever dreamed of raising before–$19,200 to be exact.
But this time it’s different.
I’m not selling cookie dough or pizzas or Major Saver cards.
This time I’m doing something way better.
I have the opportunity to invite people to partner with me through their tangible giving in an effort to further the Kingdom.

Over the past several months (even before I applied for the World Race), I felt God begin to soften my heart towards the idea of fundraising.
One of the things that has really softened my heart is experiencing the blessing of supporting missions firsthand.
I’ve tithed since I was old enough to have any money to give, and I believe that tithing is the most important thing I can do with my finances, but this is the first year that I have, in addition to my monthly tithing, supported a missionary.
And wow, wow, wow. What an incredible experience giving each month has been.
While I have been living out my calling as a teacher in the United States, I have been able to support a close friend who is living out her calling on the other side of the world.
The lives of people in a completely different country are being changed as a result of my friend’s willingness to love, support, and encourage others, in addition to her mission to share the Gospel, and I get to play a role in that by keeping my friend on the mission field through my monthly giving.
I’ve quickly realized that the monthly withdrawal from my bank account isn’t a burden. It’s a gift. After all, there’s no better way to spend my money than to give to the advancement of the Kingdom.

In order to go on the World Race, to share the love to Jesus and serve others around the world, and to bring back stories of the wonderful people I meet and the experiences I have to share with others and hopefully bring about a domino effect of impact for years to come, I am in need of $19,200.
So here I am humbling myself before you and saying, I cannot do this alone.
I need a team of people who are willing to partner with me through prayer and words of encouragement, but I also need people who are willing to partner with me through monthly or one-time financial gifts.
I need you.
