The World Race is one of the programs of Adventures in Missions. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve the forgotten within real and raw community. It facilitates discipleship through the process of discovering the abundant life God promised. It births partnerships with ministries around the world. It requires Luke 10-like faith. Since the first World Race in 2006, the Race has grown and expanded. As of January 2016, we have sent over 3,600 Racers to the field.

Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 104,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. We seek to disciple as Jesus did.

There is a generation of radicals whose heartbeat is to see a changed world. It’s a generation that’s dissatisfied with the status quo and is actively rising to the challenge of seeing the world transformed through tangible expressions of God’s love. World Racers are seeing lives changed in nation all over the world. I’m so excited for how God will use me on this trip, and I hope you follow along!

For the past two years, I have spent my time in Portland, Oregon finishing my undergraduate studies at Multnomah University. I will be graduating in December with a double major in Bible and Theology and Global Studies with an emphasis in Children at Risk. I remember when I decided that I wanted to move to Portland and be in this program, one of the biggest deciding factors was that it was specifically designed for followers of Christ that wanted to go on the mission field. That was me. The call was clear. So I went. And here I am two years later, responding to another call, this time a bigger step out of my comfort zone. Many of you have watched and encouraged my journey the past eight years as I have pursued a deeper calling to go unto the world. With each trip, I have found God continuing to show me how broken the world is and how much people need to experience him.  After my most recent trips, I sensed the Lord was asking me to trust him for a longer period of time.

I am going on the World Race! I will spending almost the entire year of 2018 with Adventures in Missions, travelling to 11 different countries doing ministry all over the world. Each month a new culture, people, challenge, and opportunity to discover the love of God. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it’s not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. Through the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. I am a part of a generation whose hearts beat to see a changed world. It is a generation that is dissatisfied with the status quo and is actively rising to the challenge of seeing the world transformed through tangible expressions of God’s love. I want to see lives changed in nations all over the world. I’m excited to see what God will do in and through me on this trip and I am inviting you to be a part of my team!

Prayer: Before doing anything, like throwing this letter away or sending me a million dollars, pray about it! Pray for guidance that God will open up doors for you to serve the Kingdom, whether it be for me and my trip, or another way, and go until He says no. Pray for me as I go through the process of preparing spiritually, financially and mentally. Pray for the spirits of myself and my future team, that God will prepare us to serve Him well and to give us endurance to run the race ahead of us. Pray for those we will come into contact with.

Finance: I will face many challenges all throughout the World Race, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is my financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded on the World Race Route 1, I need to raise around $18,100 not including two round trip tickets and equipment. This money will cover all of my field expenses for the 11 months of the trip. If God is leading you to help out financially there are a few ways you can give (Adventures in Missions is a 501c3 nonprofit, and all donations are tax refundable).
