This month I found myself in a hammock dreaming with God again and letting my imagination run wild. I love just sitting with Him and thinking up all these creative things I could do for Him. I think He enjoys it too. This month in Jamaica our ministry was evangelism and though I still have a lot to process of what we went through this month, I think this video kind of summarizes my heart and what I want my life to be about.
I thought up this idea while in my hammock with God and I took it to my team. This time it wasn’t just one other person I need, but a whole group. It was a step out of my comfort zone to ask them because I knew it would be a step out of their comfort zone to perform. This video is a beautiful portrayal of the Body of Christ. You can see my dear friends step up to the plate and act and sing and dance even though it’s not their strong suit. I was blown away about their ability to choose into this and find joy in something they’ve never done before.
I also realized that this tells the story of our month here in Jamaica. We came in timid and shy and wanting to be in our comfort zones, but God pulled us out and told us we would come alive as we step into what He has for us in evangelism. It’s about seeing the world and the darkness that encompasses it, the lies that people believe, and the truth and joy that they need, and doing something about it! It’s about bringing joy to the world, which was spoken over me before I was even born. I will bring joy to the world, that is my calling and my purpose. So Lord, let this be another way!
Musicals and dancing has always been something that brings me joy. Growing up and even to this day I will listen to songs and imagine a dance number, musical number, or music video that goes along with it- these things constantly are coming up in my brain and bringing me life. Before we started shooting the other day I had a chance to thank these folks for allowing one of them to come to life. Out of the hundreds that I’ve probably dreamt up, it’s kind of like a mini dream to see one actually come true and not just be a part of my imagination.
It’s taking my dream and my joy inside my head and manifesting into something to share and give joy to others. So we are taking it, putting our own story to a beautiful song and hoping it’s being used to give joy to others.
WHY God has me doing these fun little musical numbers, I don’t know, but dang are they fun. And they tell a story! And we are all storytellers.
