So I met this guy… yes I know! I fell in love. I love him for many reasons but mostly because he loves so much. I will tell you about some of his amazing characteristics – that I cannot wait to share- but in the basics of the story was he said “hi my name is Jesus” – we fell in love – my life as I knew it forever changed – he said “you want an adventure?” … He said “come with me!”
Here I am with some clothes on my back, shoes I my feet, and my dad’s Bible in my hand. God has placed me in a strong and beautiful team- we call ourself the Lavished Warriors. The word lavished comes from 1John 3:1. It is not just any kind of love – but a overflowing and abundant love that comes from God. Perfect. The word “warrior” came from a moment when we realized a team of 6 girls doesn’t have to define us as meek or too gentle but the realization that we all have different gifts to be warriors for Gods spectacular kingdom.
Our ministry in Guatemala is awesome and we get to work with another team of 7! Our first few days of ministry -in my opinion – has been awesome! The first day we got to see three schools that are all really close ( one labeled as a public school- yet is an an old house) These elementary kids ran up to us with big smiles and sparkling eyes. We – most of the group not knowing much spanish- felt nervously by the quickly learned fact that speaking will not be the main source of communication but… before we knew we had kids on our backs laughing with pure joy as we ran around looking like fools, out of shape, hot in the sun, & having the time of our lives.
The team house we have been blessed with is about an hour and 20 minutes from the schools we teach at and I think I look forward to every time. Guatemala has so much beauty to offer and every time we drive, there is always so many new things too look at and admire.
Getting everything planed and organized has been a bit chaotic and that’s ok! What classes will we teach? Where do we buy food? How we do this? And that? And get there? Then the next thing you know you are standing in front of a class room filled with kids looking at you. Life is so good and precious! Our contact host is awesome and has done so much for us. I know we will get a better system soon but right now it’s is an exciting time getting to be lost in the beauty of a whole new culture.
I will write more about the ministry and precious moments the next time I can! Internet is limited – and that’s also ok!
Sending my love back home and to my family- thanks for all the love, support and prayer!
