What a month it has been… I have been in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam the past 3 weeks. Since it is a Communist country I was not able to post much about what we did. Missionaries are illegal in Vietnam especially with the Christian faith. So therefore most of what we did was underground/ undercover, in avoidance with the government. While we were there we went to a AIDS hospital and prayed healing and comfort over people (until the doctors got suspicious), went to an AIDS home and played with AIDS orphans and prayed over those on their death beds, and went out the the countryside to a persecuted church. While at the persecuted church, which has already been torn down once for being underground, we met the pastor and his family who told us their testimony and blessed us with a Vietnamesse meal. We hiked up the mountain and helped them pull trees for the roots. The roots are worth 50 cents per kilo. Basically an entire afternoon of labor for $8. For dinner they made us porridge and a chicken from their farm that they killed right then and there. Celeste got the priviledge of plucking the feathers. Other then that, a majority of the month was focused on our team, building community, enjoying each others company, and loving on one another.
We had a two day travel back into Bangkok last night for the 6th time in 3 months. We will be leaving here tonight at 7:30 to head to AFRICA!!! Our flight leaves around midnight. We have a layover in Kenya for a few hours. Our final destination will be GHANA! We will spend a couple of days with the whole squad in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
For our ministry this month we will be heading to Cape Coast which is a few hours South West of Accra. So much history of Africa reside right in Cape Coast. It was the major port of the slave trade.
We will be working with the Campus Crucade contacts and building relationships mainly with the Univeristy of Cape Coast students. We will also be working in microclinics and doing whatever else God has in store for us. We will be working with Team 180 and Weston will be joining us as well! This country has been on my heart since before we started the race and God has been speaking some amazing thing about what we will encounter there. My amazing roommates from home have spend time working with these contacts and I look forward to following in their footsteps and the passion for this country that has rubbed off on me! Thank you all for reading and stayed updated with the Race!
