Dear Future World Racers,
As I am nearing the end of the world race, multitudes of thoughts run through my head. I feel like the race has been a book and now a majority of the pages are in my left hand, leaving only a thin 2 months left in my right hand. Donald Miller speaks on the end of a chapter of your life in this way, “you being to mourn its ending, and want to pace yourself slowly toward its closure, knowing the last lines will speak of something beautiful, of the end of something long and earned, and you hope the thing closes out like last breaths, like whispers about how much and who the characters have to come love, and how authentic the sentiments feel when they have earned a hundred pages of qualification.� I devote this blog to future world racers, future world changers, future lawyers teachers and preachers, future entrepreneurs, future life givers, future God-breathing prophets, future _______ you fill in the blank. Your destiny is in the hands of God but it is your choice to grab it and run. It is your choice to choose the better story and make it your own.
Some of you who read this have just stumbled on the world race website and decided to check out some of our blogs, and now you are thinking, “man I wish I could do something like this… but I could never do it.� I say this to you… “That’s crap.� You can do anything through Christ who gives you strength. Its is you choosing in to this amazing year of abandonment, vulnerability, community, brokenness, dependency, joy, hope, love, acceptance of who you are, dreaming, and just willingness for God to do His part in your life. My hope is for you! For you to take a year to join the world race to change yourself, to walk in the fullness of who God created you to be. Because believe me my life has been changed forever. There is no going back to who I was. There is only forward motion from here on out. And believe me, God has allowed me to dream big dreams. Dreams that now I believe God will see through to completion.
I pray that you choose in to change. God obviously brought you to my blog for a reason. God has placed a desire inside of you for more. He is given you the option of the World Race, He even has it figured out how you are going to raise the money in His timing. He knows the names of the people He has planned for you to impact, whether it is Socehat the orphan in Cambodia, Nadia the woman who was trafficked for sex in Thailand, or the James the young Nigerian whose entire family was brutally massacred. He knows it is only YOU who can impact them in the way they need to be. He knows how you are going to lay down your expectations of Him and how He is going to blow up the box you put Him in. He knows how your heart will soften yet grow stronger at the same time. He knows how your theology will be rocked and your world perspective will change. But it all comes down to your willingness…
So I ask you what is holding you back? Is it money… well He has got cattle’s on a thousand hills that He desires to pour onto you if you are willing to let Him use you. Is it your job… realistically do you enjoy the mundane 9 to 5. Is it your friends… the community you develop with racers will change your life and they will be in your life forever. Is it your family… Your new spiritual parents will greatly impact you and you will gain more brothers and sisters this year then you ever could with blood. Whatever your reason, God has a rebuttal and you know the answer.
Again I say simply LEAVE. It is a powerful word that will mean a lot for you in making this decision to join this God ordained movement of the World Race. You will not be alone. Everything will be here when you get back but you will be the one who has changed.
Choose the better story for it will make all the difference…
