My life has always been about control. There are only a handful of things you can truly control in life. I know that my phone bill is due on the 2nd of each month so I need to have $85 in my bank account to pay it. I have to meet someone at 3pm so I leave at 2:30pm to get there in time.  I don’t want to run out of toilet paper or shampoo so I put a few rolls in storage and a thing of shampoo and conditioner in the closet just in case.

Lesson of the day: Keep control in the areas of your life you can control so your life doesn’t come crumbling down when something unexpected happens.

Yes, there’s some truth to that but I’M WRONG!

I have led my life by my “lesson of the day” and because of that, I’m always living in the future. I’m never actually living in the moment.

My life has been controlled by anxiety, worry, and fear.  Every single task is measured on a gauge of “controllable vs. uncontrollable” – How and what can I do to make this easier for my future? To make less mistakes? To make it more efficient?

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-34

I need to place my trust in God and look to him first. Instead, I’ve been leaning on my understanding only.  I, solely, have provided for myself, leaving no room for others and certainly not God. I have left ZERO room for God’s plan for me.

In the United States, if we need a new shirt to wear out one night, we go buy it. If we need dinner, we go to the store after work and pick something up. If we need anything, if there’s a will or a way, we’ll get it. We never even give God a chance to provide for us.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may life you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on hum because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

So … I’m handing over “my” entire plan and making it God’s plan for me!

I surrender…

  • My future job/career
  • How I will pay my car payment, student loans, and phone bill when I get back
  • My dreams of being a business owner/entrepreneur
  • How much money I’ll make a year
  • My Husband
  • The future of my dad, mom, brothers and sister
  • My looks
  • How I will come up with the remaining $1912 in my support account
  • # of kids I want to have

God loves me and I’m giving him room to provide for me.  I want my vision to be his vision and I want to live for him!
