As I prepare to launch in September, I wanted to start researching each of the countries I'll be serving in. Most importantly, I wanted to look into the areas of ministry I might experience.
For the next 10 days, I'll be researching each of the countries and also letting each of you know a little bit about what I'll be experiencing!

South Africa

When I’ll be in South Africa: October
Where in South Africa: I’ll find out this month!
Temperature: 52-70 Degrees Fahrenheit
Points of Interest: Cape Town (Isn't it crazy how these countries can be so beautiful and seem so developed but still have children and families living in poverty!)

Areas of Ministry I might be working(I’ll find out for sure this month): AIDS/HIV, Malnutrition, Poverty

  • Up to 31% of pregnant women found to be HIV infected
  • HIV infection rate of South Africa is 20%
  • In 2009 25 percent of pre-school and 20 percent of primary school children suffer from chronic malnutrition
  • 50 percent of pregnant women suffer from anemia owing to an iron deficiency
