I seriously cannot believe it…I’m watching my first sunrise in South Africa. Besides the smells and sounds, it feels pretty similar to America. I woke up at 5am to the sound of roosters crowing throughout the city of Johannesburg. Who knew Africa was so cold in the morning? It’s probably 45 degrees; I can see my breath and the grass is covered in frost. The stars and moon are so much brighter than Omaha and the air smells like campfires. I love the smell! (The smell is really burning trash but I pretend it’s really a campfire :/ )
Don’t tell anyone this but I really did expect it to be exactly like The Lion King. I expected to get off the plane and see zebras and giraffes in the fields. All I have packed is tank tops and shorts for hot and humid weather – so I might have to explore these African malls.
My squad arrived at our host ministry last night and the grounds are beautiful. We have beds and showers (even though the water is shockingly cold). It’s so much more than I expected.
Originally, Team Shekinah was suppose to head to either Botswana or Zimbabwe but our ministry fell through so were spending the remainder of September in Johannesburg, South Africa with a ministry called Soccer 4 Kids on their Eikenhoff Campus. Team Shekinah, along with three other teams will be working with kids and also painting some of the buildings.
I’m not gonna lie… There was a little bit of jealousy for another team on I-Squad heading to Zambia to stay with a ministry that’s about 300 feet from Victoria Falls but I truly believe that God is giving me as much as I can handle and He made it very clear to me that this is what I can handle right now.

I’m experiencing so much PEACE! I’ve never been so positive that where I’m at RIGHT NOW is exactly where I should be. It’s an amazing, overwhelming feeling of LOVE.
Little by little, He’ll continue to reveal more about His plan for me and how the World Race fits into that plan.
I have soooooo much more to post – The internet is really slow so my blogs are really behind what I'm actually doing but updates are soon to come!
