Antigua, Guatemala – I got to see my mom! The first week in May, my mom came down to Central America to spend a week with me doing ministry in Antigua, Guatemala. As I get older, the gap between our ages closes. It’s amazing to have a mom that I also consider a friend. I loved sharing this huge part of my life her.

We spent a day with a ministry called, Step by Step, outside of Antigua. The ministry is an after school program. Another day was spent at a ministry called Potter’s House. Potter’s House is located in Guatemala City, in a neighborhood that lives solely off of the largest garbage dump in Central America. The families live in dim, one room shacks and make a living from picking through trash and selling what they find. We went from house to house and handed out food bags and prayed for the families.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras – Our entire squad has been together this month at Zion’s Gate. Fifty of us share two cold showers and three bathrooms and sleep outside in our tents! Zion’s Gate focus is street kids. Put simply, kids are thrown out on the street… They take in children who don’t have families or a place to live.

We’ve been digging, digging, and digging and will eventually make a garden!

We built a “bunny palace” and have been taking care of the baby bunnies! (Zion’s Gate sells pet rabbits as an income.)

We visited another ministry outside of the city called the Heart of Christ. They rescue women of sexual and incest abuse and provide a home for them and their babies. They also have three little girls that have cerebral palsy. These women and children are thrown out and rejected by their families so this is a last resort. My time here was amazing!

At the end of the month, we’ll leave for Nicaragua! Onto month ten…
