We are in our last continent of Asia and our 9th country of Thailand. This month we are going to be doing something called “man-istry” or as the good gender calls it, “Woman-istry”. So all 11 of our men will be spending the month together and doing manly stuff. So that means the women are together. We have been split up into new teams for this month. Our ministry will involve the red-light district (human trafficking) in some form or fashion. My new team is made up of 5 women. Nicole (from my current team) is our team leader for the month and we have 3 new women on our team which I am super excited to get to know and to share life with for a month.

Signing up for the World Race, I knew I would have to go to Asia, but honestly, Asia is the continent I knew least about. And for that reason, I am a little on edge about going to this new place, this new culture, and being involved in a completely new ministry. But I am excited to be challenged in a way that I haven’t been on the Race so far. So since I know little about Thailand, here are the facts about this country.

·         Thailand is a monarchy with the current King being in power since 1946- the longest in the world
·         Thailand is the 51st largest country with 64 million people.
·         95% of the population is of the Buddhist faith.
·         The only country never colonized by a European country.

My team is going to be in Chaing Mai which is in the northern part of Thailand. There we will be working with Lighthouse in Action ministries. We have 3 main ministries this month. 1.) Going to bars and reaching out to women who find prostitution the only way out. 2.) Working in a Café near the college to reach out to the youth there. 3.) Work with the children in the slum’s to give awareness and hopefully keep those kids from making it into the sex-trafficking ring.

It is going to be a great month. But also tough. Please keep me, my team and the ministry in your prayers as we embark on Month 9 of The World Race in Thailand. Here are links to my new Teammates blogs of Relentless Rescue.
