Here is a blog about training camp. It's a little rough.. trying to honor the posting times, but I will make it better once I have time to sit and think at my laptop.
Training camp is going to change your life. If you thought the race would teach you some things, wait for training camp. It’s only the beginning of your adventure.
Here are a few tips in order to allow your training camp experience to be the best:
1. Be open—keep your mind, spirit, and heart open to for what Lord is going to teach you. If you come into training camp with pre-conceived notions of what training camp is going to be like and what you are going to learn, then it may be a terrible experience for you. Be open and willing to whatever the Lord has in store or you.
2. Be flexible—if you are a schedule type of person like me, I suggest to let that go now. It was hard for me at first, not always knowing what is going on each day, but it is so much better to go with the flow and take activities and situations as they come. When you are on the race, you never know what make take place and when. Don’t worry about the schedule but focus on each moment and make the most of them.
3. Expectations – we all have them. Sometime or another. But when it comes to camp. Try not to. Really. Everyone on my squad had thoughts about what training camp would be like and so far, it has been completely off. When you have expectations, and then come disappointments when those are not met. So best off would be to not expect, but to enjoy it all. Nothing is like I expected it to be, but it is so good.
4. Have fun – camp may be easy, challenging, fun, boring, helpful, stressful for you but use every experience to learn from it and grow. Temporary issues are truly that. Temporary. Camp is going to be a blast and you will make the friends o a lifetime.
5. Don’t be scared – I am not going to lie. I was terrified on my arrival to camp. I was pretty much sick to my stomach. It was terrible. But there is no reason to really be scared. Camp is great. You will make friends so fast and soon be comfortable with everyone. It truly is a family.
I wish you all the best on your training camp experience. It really is training for the race. After camp you will definitely be prepared for your adventure around the world. Good Luck!
