Finally back in Peru. I have been looking forward to this day for quite awhile. This is the first time I have been living in and doing ministry in Trujillo. I have been near here, but never in Trujillo. I bet my teammates think I m crazy for loving Peru the way I do. Leaving the beautiful mountains and jungle of Ecuador, and going to Peru which is desert is a big change. All that my teammates have seen is the desert and tried a couple of Peruvian dishes. But I still wonder if they are questioning my love for this country.

I am so excited to be back in Peru and to do ministry once more here.  We are in a section of Trujillo called Porvenir, which has a ‘reputation’ but everything will be fine as long as the gringos are smart. We are staying at a property which will one day be a children’s home. Only one dormitory is built right now, but it is really nice. We have beds. Real showers. Working toilets. And we get to cook our own food this month. What a blessing.

Our ministry this month seems pretty simple. On Mondays we will have our free days. Maybe to go hiking, sandboarding or even to the beach. I am thinking about a trip to see some of my friends who live nearby. The rest of the week will be work. For four of the days we will be doing construction in order to get this children’s home built. One day a week we will be doing dump ministry which is where we go to the garbage dump here and talk to people and build relationships with those that no one else will. And on Sundays will be church and then evangelism. Sounds like a good month to me!

My team is working with another team this month. There are 13 of us in total. It will be good to make new friendships and continue on this crazy journey called The World Race!
