I have probably blogged on this before. I can’t quite remember, but it seems to be a reoccurring theme for me lately: obedience and how important it is for a follower of Christ.  The Race is a time to do this. To leave all behind and listen to the Lord’s voice. I could have easily stayed home this year. Continued nursing school. Be in the midst of mid-terms right now. But instead of doing that. Here I am. In Cochabamba, Bolivia.

I think sometimes we don’t realize how much we give up to follow the Lord. There are big things in life, but also smaller ones. Others may think we are crazy. Or stupid. Or out of our mind. But in reality we are perfectly sane. Perfectly content. If we didn’t obey the Lord, then there would be something wrong. Though this is can be the harder route, it is also the right one.

And reading through the Bible, Jesus even said this. He emphasized to the disciples the importance of obedience and what rewards there will be for us.

Matthew 19:29 “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.”

But it is not so much about the rewards I will receive one day. Those are not as of much importance to me as getting out there and sharing the Kingdom with the world. Sharing the truth and love of the only God.  Yeah rewards and eternal life are great (okay I’m super looking forward to eternity in heaven) but I know it will be so much greater if I can share it with brothers and sisters from around the world who have come to know the Lord as their Messiah and Savior. And only through obedience can I achieve this.
