So here in Huauticocha, we do not have an actual translator. There are 2 of us pretty fluent in Spanish. 2 of us semi-fluent and 2 of us who know little. What a group huh? Well I am put with the pretty fluent group. Which I guess I am. Maybe I am just too humble about it. Anyway, without a translator guess who becomes the translator?? You guessed. Emily and me.

Earlier in our meeting with the pastor, I would translate from Spanish to English and Emily would go from English to Spanish. We had a pretty good system going on. There is quite a bit we miss or don’t understand, but we are definitely trying.

Today during ministry, a visitation with a family friend of Pastor Ivan, Emily and I sort of had the same translating system. But this time we went a step forward and I would talk more in Spanish and her in English. It was a pretty good visit. A lot was accomplished.

Then at a church service, I was able to give my testimony and a message in spanish. so that was a lot of fun and I felt really accomplished, though I was super nervous.

I love translating. I love Spanish. But I know it is going to talk its toll. From the morning we will be physically drained. Because we are on a mission trip we can be spiritually drained. Because we are away from home, friends, family and comfort, we can be emotionally drained. And now add Spanish translation on top of it, we will be mentally drained.

That is a quadruple hit. But even though I know I will be tired, sore, and emotional a lot. I also know it will be worth it. I am super excited for ministry this month. I know it will be a great month and God will be there helping me through it all.
