Today in Huanchaco, Peru, us women had the opportunity to go to a High Tea at the Chocolate Café. We arrive there to see some decorations, the table set with fancy china and to top it off, amazing looking desserts. We sit down and I really try to pull out and use my table manners.

Sit up straight.
Cross legs at the ankles.
Hold tea cup with all fingers except pinky.
Use fork and knife when eating. No fingers allowed.
Napkin on lap.
Anything else?
Probably.

We eat our keish and our finger sandwiches and drink up our tea. Did I mention it was bottomless tea?? So good. Next we get dessert. Apple pie, carrot cake, chocolate cake and cupcakes. And us world Racers (there were 7 of us) definitely dug in and enjoyed them to the fullest.

But after awhile, the fun and ritz of a tea party wore off. It was great to dress up. Put on make-up. Feel ‘pretty’ for an night. Act like a princess. But that lifestyle is not really for me. I was thinking that if I fell in love with a royal prince and married into royalty someday, then I might have some problems. It’s fun to dream of a life like that but it’s not reality. It’s like playing dress up. You do it for awhile, but not forever.

And then I realized I need not cut myself out of being royalty. Though I may not have a royal blood line. Though I may not live in Britain and eat finger sandwiches and drink tea every day. I am still royalty. My Father is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. What can beat out that royalty? I am a child of the Living God and am basking in the gloriousness of His Kingdom which has no end.

I always joke that I am a princess. What little girl doesn’t dream of being a princess? Yeah my dream has continued into adulthood, but that is besides the point. I am still a princess no matter what anyone says. And though I may not be a part of an earthly kingdom and be able to drink tea every day, wear expensive jewelry or clothes, and I’m not followed by paparazzi everywhere, doesn’t mean I am not royalty.

My kingdom is of the God and Creator of the Universe and I am serving right now in order to expand that Kingdom so that everyone can enjoy its glory with me. And who would have thought I could learn all this from going to a simple tea party?
