Surprise!!! We have internet! About 6 months ago, Huauticocha received electricity for the first time and about 2 months ago they received internet. How exciting for them! Here we are growing up with electricity, cars and even internet… but these are very new concepts for this town. And before you know it, they will all have facebook!

From Quito, we drove about 6 hours kind of south-westish to get to our destination. We are semi-close to the jungle where the Indians from End of the Spear still live primitively. Anyway, Huauticocha is a town of about 500 people. The pastor we are staying with has personally been in every single house to share the gospel. Talk about perseverance and a passion for spreading the gospel!! Huauticocha is right off the highway, at night we hear the trucks/buses and cars going through. But walk a few hundred feet away from the road and you are in dense jungle.

We have beds! Praise the Lord. There are mosquito nets to keep out our little (annoying) bug friends. The food is great. A lot of soup, rice and of course chicken. It is very fulfilling and delicious. Pastor Ivan and his wife Nancy are wonderful hosts who have offered up their house for us and are cooking us good food.  Their son Isaac is 4 and he is precious.

The town of Huauticocha is mainly Catholic. There is one Catholic church, which is never open, and then the Protestant church which is below Ivan’s house. There is a lot of spiritual warfare going on between Ivan’s evangelism and the Catholic church. Please keep this in your prayers as Ivan continually reaches out to the community.

We are very safe here. The ministry is great and I am excited to see what God is going to do during our month here!!
