October 10, 2011 was a very special occasion for 6 special people; though they may not have known it at the time. This was the date when Month 3 of The World Race was just finishing up and it was time for the all time dreaded thing: Team Changes. I was a little nervous about this whole team change thing. Not that my first team was perfect. But when we all get comfortable with what we know then change can be scary. During our time in La Paz, Bolivia we were all given note cards with our new team written on them. The instructions were to take the note card to a secluded place and then pray before opening it. When I finally opened it, I squealed with excitement at what the note card said! This is what I wrote in my journal that evening,
“LOVE my new team! Lunch – coffee shop – pictures. All the teams presented themselves, we were the best. Star wars, Speedos, & ‘We are Family’. It’s gonna be a good next few months. So Excited!!!!”
Family Force 6 has traveled the world together. Family Force 6 has done construction, shared the gospel and played with kids. Family Force 6 has been on too many adventures to count. Family Force 6 is more than just a team, or more than friends. Family Force 6 is a Family. These 5 people are truly my family away from home and I know that no matter what, they are people that I can trust for life. And even though after we all depart LA we will be scattered throughout the United States going onto the next season of life—wherever God is calling us, I know that we will forever be Family Force 6!
