Have you ever heard the saying “The Chain is only as strong as its weakest link”? I stumbled across it a few days ago, and it made me start to think how many times it could be applied to our lives.
I think that many of us can relate how in some part of our lives we’ve tried to do everything on our own and as we start to drift away we stop letting God have control in showing us the path to take. We start living our life in according to what WE think is right. Suddenly, YOU think you know what is best for yourself.
For some people, it can become a cycle of switching back and forth. Having God be the center of their life, or have themselves as the center of their life.
As we try to “do life” on our own, it starts to become harder to endure and deal with the stress and obstacles that life throws at us. We try to carry all the weight while walking forward.
“The Chain is only as strong as its weakest link” means no matter how strong you are in certain areas, if there is a part in you that can be exploited in weakness by the enemy, sooner or later in life your chain will break. By having God as the center of your life you will have God’s Holy Chain, and by doing that, you will have no weak link. God uses that weakest link in us to draw us to Himself so that He can become our strongest link.
As it says in 2nd Corinthians 12: 9 “…‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me…” Being in the world race project has really tested my strengths and weaknesses. This in turn has made me realize how much of God’s Holy Chain I’m actually holding onto therefore, showing me that in certain areas, I’m still having one hand on the wheel instead of letting God have complete control.
Sometimes God asks us to commit to an action that will be hard for us to follow through. We need to remember that we’re only getting a glimpse through the keyhole of the door, while God is already on the other side. My world race journey has barely begun and yet I’m already growing stronger and closer with God.
