So out of every place that our team has been to, Silchar has definitely been the most stressful and challenging place for many of us. It was a city that had a lot of perversion and wickedness within it; there were several situations where many of the girls in our group felt unsafe and in danger. Gladly, nothing ever happened and everyone handled the situations with grace and wisdom. Spiritual warfare also took hold of many of us. Many of us felt very discouraged this past week. Despite all of this, this week has been very fruitful at sharing God’s love to those around us and forming new friendships.
It is insane how many people come up to us and ask for our photos purely because we’re white. Everyone we meet seems to be absolutely astonished with the fact that, compared to them, we all looked like walking cadavers. This has been a great opportunity to be able to form bonds with the locals there and share the redemptive message of Christ with them. I gained around ten new Instagram followers in this past week purely from the people I’ve talked to in the city. One guy in particular made a real impression on me, his name was Alec. He worked at the local Subway, we met him while ordering a sub. He was such a great and thoughtful guy. He really took care of us. Alec took all the guys to a delicious local restaurant for where we got treated to an amazing Indian lunch. Alec also drove us around the area. We saw the local tea plantation, where they planted and harvested acres of red tea leaves. For lunch we got treated to freshly baked samosas and hot chai tea. It was amazing. Alec is a Hindu, but I could tell that God was working in his life. He has definitely been gifted the gift of love from God. Alec was one of many relationships that were formed this past week. God still has work to do within this city. Thanks for reading!
