Training Camp Blog! Wooo! So for the past few days July squad has been roughing it in training camp with June squad. It’s been fun, freeing, a little scary, but always real and uplifting. We have to share minimal resources, which includes internet time, so this will be a short blog, although many great things have happened which I’ll tell you about later!
Food: Each day we receive dishes with food representative of a certain country. We’ve had to eat with chop sticks and hands, and we’re always encouraged to finish everything on the plate, however much or little it is.
Living: We’re roughing it in tents and open cabins. I’ve been living out of my tent at Man Camp.
Activities: The first few days we dealt with personal baggage and growth. The next few days we started doing squad building activities, these past few days we’ve received our teams and doing team building activities.
Community: There is so much respect and personal integrity here. We are more single-minded in purpose to be encouraging and supportive to others so that there is no fear of vulnerability; we can trust each other and feel like family, though it’s only been a few days.
Highlights: I have never felt the freedom and loosening of inhibitions to get up and jump around and just rock out before the Lord during worship. Also, a racer on the field came down with spinal malaria and as far as I know was falling into like a malarial coma? We sought our God with tears and broken hearts, calling on Jesus and the healing of the Lord to fall down upon her. The next day she was up and talking! Jesus Christ is alive and hears prayers!
Feels like: Home and family (though no one can replace my loving parents!).
