One of the nuances of being a part of The World Race is the travel day (or days, as was the case in coming from Central America to Eastern Europe). Sometimes they're long. Sometimes they're short. But they're always entertaining. They are a part of what makes The World Race unique. Today was one of those days as my team and I officially finished our month in Sungai Petani, Malaysia and began the journey to Cambodia, making an overnight stop in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. This occasion brought to mind some things that make days like this special and I wanted to share them with you to give you more insight into what everyday life is like out here on the field. So, without further ado, here are the top 11 travel day perks:
- Reuniting with 45 if your closest friends after a month apart.
- Hearing stories about ministry and getting to share your own.
- Adding to your frequent flyer milage.
- Always knowing where everyone is.
- Completely overrunning an airplane/bus/ferry/train.
- Stocking up on snacks because you don't know what the availablity is at your destination.
- There's no need to impress anybody with how you look.
- Anticipation of relatively consistant internet access.
- Knowing that, in a few hours for at least one night, you'll get to take a real shower and sleep on a real bed in a real house with real air conditioning.
- Seeing how many wierd/original games you can come up with and play with each other.
- Hurry up and wait…
