Toto…anyone? If not, no worries! Please excuse my cheesy music references. Anyways, a few days ago it started raining. I mean it has rained everyday since we arrived in Australia and started tenting it, but a few days ago it STARTED raining. It must have been sometime around 7 or 8:00 pm just about the same time we started worship for the night.
Here’s the thing I love about AIM and the World Race, we didn’t care. Was a little rain going to stop us from worshiping our God? I think not. We danced like love drunk fools for hours in rain that felt like little pellets…oh how I wish I had video of that for you all to see. Beyond that, I wish all of you could have been there to dance beside me. I pray all of you get a chance to dance like a fool in the pouring rain sometime, and if that opportunity presents itself…let me tell you…DO NOT pass it up. The freedom in it reminds me of childhood, and we all know how much God loves children.
“It is for
FREEDOM that Christ has set us
FREE!“
– Galatians 5:1
Anyways, back to the rain. You see it didn’t stop when we were done worshiping and it was time for bed. In fact, I believe it got worse. Our stuff was soaked, we were soaked, tents were flooding…it was GREAT!! Thankfully, a very compassionate church named East Gate was kind enough to open their doors to us and allow us to sleep in their auditorium. They were even kind enough to pick us up in a van, so we didn’t have to make the 15 minute hike from the campsite. Even with all that kindness, 5 of us boys were stupid enough or stubborn enough – probably both – to stay the night. Here is a video of just how ‘great’ of a decision that was:
