Our “launch” (The World Race term for leaving the USA!) will be in September, but before then Adventures In Missions prepares us with a 10 day, intense, and secretive Training Camp. Our squad was just given the dates for our training camp! From July 6 – July 16 James and I will be in (from what I have heard) podunk Georgia. We will be tenting and testing out our gear. We will be meeting our Squad (a group of 50ish of us who are taking the same route) and we will learn more about what our teams (a group of 6-8 of us that will usually be living and working together) may look like.

I heard there will be dance parties and music, weird food and no showers, oh and we have to pass an endurance test of walking 2 miles in under 33 minutes. This will be done in high humidity, up and down hills, and with our fully loaded packs on. (Maybe James and I should practice and run one of our 10k’s or Half Marathons with our packs on yea?!?! Umm… probably not!!!)

The other update we received recently was about our deadlines for funding. James and I will need to meet these goals to be able to participate in the race. We have already received overwhelming support from our friends and family! Thank you so much. So in order to keep you informed here are the deadlines we have to meet:

June 12, 2015 – About one month before Training Camp – $7,000 in our fundraising account

August 21, 2015 – Almost time for launch!! – $20,000

October 31st, 2015 – Our 2nd month in the field – $26,000

December 31st, 2015 – Our 4th month in the field – Fully funded at $32,534

Again thank you to everyone who has decided to support us so far!! We are looking forward to sharing this mission with you! Together we can make a difference in our world.

The fact that we are heading out on an almost year long adventure for God is still sinking it. The fact that we have to start making travel plans to Georgia for training camp makes it slightly more real. The fact that we just ordered my backpack, our tent, and our sleeping bags makes it even more real, and more scary.

It is going to take a lot of trust and faith. We are learning more about God even before we leave to see more of His kingdom. We had to trust Him as we made a big step in purchasing some of our gear. One of our squadmates shared a website that has great deals on camping and other outdoor gear. The catch is, the quantities are limited, and it only runs for a limited time. My first choice of backpack was on the list, a tent that fits our needs and sleeping bags that were worse than our first choice but better than our second choice were all on sale. We had to make a call, bite the bullet, and click submit on our order.

We did not expect to make these purchases so soon. We hoped to have a rummage sale, sell some of the craft projects I have been working on, or running some other cash raising fundraiser. Instead, we are footing the bill on these purchases and trusting in God that our savings account will not sink too low.

Good thing that our God is good and unfailing. We are being held in His arms, we just have to take time to stop and feel secure.

Thank you for your prayers. Keep praying!
