Would you rather have a
butt on your chin or two tiny feet dangling off your forehead?

Hilarious! I haven’t
forgotten that question since Katie asked me during month 2 (Pretoria, South Africa).
She loves the “Would You Rather..?” game!

I can’t wait to hear
your responses to that particular question but first things first, I have a
more life-focused ‘would you rather’ question for you.

Would you rather live
long or live well?

More specifically,
would you rather live an EXTRAORDINARY life and die at 30 or live a MEDIOCRE
life and die at 89 with your honey laying by your side notebook style?

Me? I’d pick notebook
style! Option B.

Ironically, one of my
biggest fears while growing up was a wasted life. The thought of looking back
at my life and having nothing to show for it, literally, freaked me out as a
teenager.

I always thought if
you live long then you’ve REALLY lived! Sounds just about right doesn’t it?

It makes
sense. Only problem is Jesus, who lived to be 33.

33!!! Are you kidding
me? That’s SO young. If a 33 year old dies today everyone agrees that he was
taken too soon.

But surely no one
would say that about Jesus. Surely no one would suggest that if only Jesus
would have lived longer then he would’ve REALLY lived
.

See we don’t say that
because Jesus actually fully lived. He only had 33 years but he leveraged it in
incredible ways.

Jesus lived the greatest life in the history of the world, not because He lived really long but because He lived really well.

What if we remixed our
view of what it means to live?

What if we weren’t so
concerned about how long we want to live (which we can’t really control
anyways) but rather how well we live?

Do you know why we
have no sense of urgency in life? Do you know why we can be so passive with the
things that really matter in life?

Because we believe we
have time. We believe we’re gonna live to be 99 and die hugging my wife/husband
like in the movies
.

I know watching sports
center 20 times a day (obviously, before the world race) isn’t the smartest idea in the world but its cool
because I have plenty of life ahead of me. And maybe I do.

But maybe I don’t.
Maybe I only have 10 or 15 more.

The truth is…I don’t
know and neither do you, which is why we need to live like every single day
matters…BECAUSE IT DOES!

Are you naturally more anxious/burdened about wanting to live well or wanting to live long?

On a lighter note (and be honest) would you rather have a butt on your chin or tiny feel dangling off your forehead?
