1) I did not own a cell phone until 2006.

True. I was out of college by the time I had a cell phone.

2) I graduated early from college without even knowing it.

False. I did not graduate early. In fact, it took me 5 years to get the job done.

3) My favorite movie of all-time is Brown Sugar.

True. “…listen…my man…I’m trying to order the most expensive bottle of champagne…because we’re about to celebrate…celebrate what? …celebrate…ding ding ding…”

4) I have an aggressive fish named Evil Pumpkin.

True. And he is Evil!! You can’t even clean the tank without him trying to take a chunk out of your hand.

5) I won a bike from the county fair.

True. I entered a contest at the Lorain County Fair and won a bike. The bike didn’t last for too long (refer to #22).

6) I played the evil sorcerer Jafar in ‘Aladdin’ during summer theater.

True. Pioneer theater baby! lol

7) I was hit by a UPS truck on my Razor scooter during college.

True. On my razor…Miami University …High Street…didn’t even see it coming and the UPS truck laid me out. Crazy thing about this story is…I’ve been hit twice in my life. Sorry I didn’t tell you about this mom. I didn’t want to worry you. *smile*

8) I was able to save 10% by switching to Geico.

False. You probably didn’t guess this one but I saved 15% (just like the commercial..15% or more).

9) I have never been to Disneyland or Disney World.

True. Not really sure how this has happened considering I’ve been to more than 40 states.

10) I won a ping-pong (or table tennis) tournament in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

True. Carnival cruise lines…whoopin’ on them boys!!

11) I was a barista at Starbucks.

True. I, personally, recommend the jamal special…a solo grande, soy, extra whip, 180 degree, white chocolate mocha…a lot of calories but it’s worth all that goodness.

12) I have been robbed at gunpoint 10 times.

False. I have not been robbed at gun point 10 times but…I have been robbed at gun point twice and at ‘machete point’ once. Crazy right!?

13) My apartment caught fire and burned to the ground, but I was able to save my bike from the burning flames.

True. My apartment in Columbus, OH caught fire and I only had time to save my most prized possession…my bike.

14) Guilty pleasure: I watch “Say Yes to the Dress”

True. A lot of people on the show try to keep up with the Jones’ but overall it’s a good show. And who doesn’t love to see people IN love!?

15) I have run two marathons.

True. Cleveland marathon and Virginia Beach marathon. I’ve also run countless 5k’s and quite a few ½ marathons.

16) I lived alone in a tent by a river in Kansas for 3 months.

True. Despite what everyone thinks…I did biology research at Emporia State University. I had to collect samples from a river every hour for 24-hour stints (hence living in a tent next to the river) and my professor would come and obtain my samples at the end of the week. I did that for the whole summer. Strange huh!? Add it to the list!

17) I was interviewed by Cleveland Channel 8 News about my experience in band camp.

True. “This one time at band camp…” lol but seriously I played the saxophone.

18) I lived in California, Guatemala, Pennsylvania, and Washington D.C.

True. Lived in San Fran. Guate is my second home now. Lived in Pittsburgh and lived in D.C.

19) I graduated valedictorian of my high school.

False. Almost though. OK, that’s not true either. Why did all of you pick this one!? Geez!! lol

20) I can eat a pound of licorice in one sitting.

True. lol The worst part about this statement is that I do it frequently (but less frequently now that Walmart increased the price by $.40) Don’t judge me. We all have things we need to work on.

21) I once rode the greyhound from Columbus, OH to Miami, FL (via Washington D.C.).

True. Don’t ask…It’s a long story. It took me nearly two days. Needless to say, I flew back to Ohio.

22) I knocked out my two front teeth by riding my bike into an empty swimming pool, falling 12 feet to the bottom.

True…knocked myself silly with this one. Bike didn’t survive. Who knows what I was doing!? (refer to #5)

23) I was a United States Congressional Page.

True. I lived in Washington D.C., worked in the Capitol Building, and worked as a U.S. congressional page during the 105th congress (1997).

24) As of today, I have visited every city listed as “the 50 largest cities in the USA.”

True…every single city.

25) I am going on the World Race in April! (God-willing!!)

False. Well, we were able to see who was observant with this one. Silly rabbit, I’m not going in April. I’m going in September.

“So, Jamal, why are you so emotional when you talk about God?”
“So, Jamal, why are you choosing to live out of your bookbag for a year?”
“So, Jamal, what about your career?”
“You’re going where? That’s dangerous! I heard people in (insert country)…”
