“Solid.”

That’s
my dad. He’s one cool guy and I would NOT be where I am today without my dad.
Inspirational.
Hard worker. Visionary. Yup, thats my dad. And I couldn’t have asked for anything
better.
Hey
dad, remember when we would go roller skating EVERY Sunday for family night?
That was so much fun! THANKS!
How about this one…remember when we went horseback riding through the
Mayan Ruins in Mexico and we raced our horses across that open field? Now
that…THAT WAS AWESOME! That is my
favorite memory of us hanging out! THANKS!
Playing pool with me…believe it or not, many people around the world
play pool and its really helped me connect with people and share some laughs
in various countries when we didnt share the same language. THANKS!
Hey Dad…2 words…PING-PONG! Remember when I won the ping-pong tournament
on the cruise to the Bahamas. I won the whole tournament and you were so
excited about the trophy that I won. That was such a great feeling. And to my
recollection, that was also the last time you ever beat me. Hahaha *just
kidding* THANKS!
Soccer…I know its not popular in the USA but outside the states…its
HUGE! Ive played soccer in almost every country Ive visited so far. Thanks
for making me play soccer. I learned teamwork. I learned patience. I learned
not to give up so easily. THANKS!
Speaking of sports…Ive run in A
LOT of track meets, skated in A LOT
of speed skating competitions, played in A
LOT of football games, played in A
LOT of basketball games, played in A
LOT of soccer games…thanks for coming to all of those competitions. It
means more than you know. THANKS!
You know whats even better than that? Remember when you made me sit out
for the whole 6th grade basketball season until I improved my
grades? Thats when I recognized that school and grades were far more important
than any sport. THANKS!
On the subject of school…thanks for setting a great foundation with
choice in high school. It set me up for a great college, and then an amazing
graduate school. And Ive met some amazing friends along the way. THANKS!
Listen…thanks for taking so many pictures when I was growing up. Looking
at childhood pictures is one thing I look forward to when I come home. Your
photography has inspired me. I love capturing the moment. I was young when you
took those pictures so I dont remember most of those moments but when I have
kids, I want them to see those precious moments too. THANKS!
How can I forget about this one? Remember when I was having trouble with
my balance and I was hospitalized for a while? Thanks for driving to a
different city to check up on me. THANKS!
And remember when I called you about surgery…yeah, THAT surgery. That
was gross but you, literally, saved my life. Thank God for in-house medical
advice. THANKS! (hmmm…I should write a blog about
that.)
But
do you want to know my ALL-TIME FAVORITE MEMORY? Do you remember when you
read the “Kids Bible Stories” to us every night before going to bed? I always
looked forward to your enthusiastic voice and funny facial expressions. It provided
the foundation for taking the Word to the nations and has made me the person I
am today. THANKS!
