After 36 hours of travel, 5 flights, and abruptly having to say goodbye to 13 incredible girls who have become some of my closest friends – I’m home. It’s relieving, but it’s also a harsh reality to accept. One week ago my team and I traveled from the village we had been staying at in Cambodia to Bangkok, Thailand. Before we were able to move into our ministry house and begin serving in Bangkok, the World Race made the difficult, but wise decision to bring all 500+ missionaries that had been serving on teams all over the world back to the US.
The emotions of the past week are still catching up to me. I do feel blessed to be safe at home in the midst of the chaos all over the world. At the same time, it is heartbreaking to be here knowing that we hadn’t even scratched the surface of the 6 weeks we had remaining to love and serve the Thai people.
This week I have found a lot of peace in knowing that God is so very capable of working and changing hearts across the world, even without us there to help. Looking on the bright side, it is so exciting to know that 500+ bearers of peace are back in the States in a time that so desperately needs to know the peace and hope of Jesus. 2 Timothy 1:7 has been running through my mind the past couple of days, and I hope that it will be an encouragement to you as well in the way that you approach the days, weeks, or months of uncertainty ahead… “For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.”
I have plenty of stories from the past 2 months that I would love to share with you, whether in person or over time on this blog. Thank you for all of your prayers, support, and encouragement. For now, I’ll leave you with some smiles from our last day of English class in Cambodia 🙂
