Goodbye China; Hello Kazakhstan. Now that I have officially left china I am able to post more easily I want to share with you all what we did. My team was in Yuncheng for most of the month which is where my teammate was born and some of her family is there. We got the opportunity to teach English in a school from grades 3rd-6th and we also worked with students that were getting ready to take test so that would be grade 9th and 12th. China is very strict on religion so are prayer was curiosity. We prayed that the students, teachers, and other people we met there would ask us questions that would lead us to tell them what we believe, and God answered those prayers.

One example of that was when we were teaching some of the students and they had asked us about Christmas. In China they leave up decorations that say Merry Christmas and other decorations all year round, but they don’t celebrate Christmas… at all. They asked us what we do for Christmas because they have heard about “santa” but they don’t do anything with it and so we were able to share with them what Christmas means to us… the real reason for Christmas. They also wanted to know about the solar system and so we were able to talk about the creator. Some other things we taught them was the story of the Prodigal Son and what Love and Mercy and Grace and Forgiveness meant.

There was a teacher that was with us all the time and she always saw us reading our bible and she started to ask us questions about it and we were able to share with her and we also watched the movie “One Night with The King”, which is a movie about Ester. It was a cool opportunity to speak into her life and share who Jesus is because they don’t believe in a religion it all about works and working harder to show off how good their life is. A prime example of that is when we went to a college to talk with students and they had a 13 story library but you needed a to be student to go into it and when we were asking the students about the library they told us that there was only 3 floors had books and the rest of it was empty… there was nothing in ten floors of this building. That’s how they lived their lives they drove nice cars and acted like life was perfect but when you got to know them and they started to open up and you could see all emptiness within them.

There was another guy that me and Joey met who worked at an internet café and he couldn’t speak English and we couldn’t speak Chinese but he was asking us questions through google translator. When we first met him he said that he was an atheist and Joey asked him a few questions that put flaws into atheism and he got him to realize that there is a God out there. He had told us that when life is hard he just works harder and we were able to share with him that its not about how much you have or how much you work that brings you happiness that it is Jesus that gives you Joy. We went there a lot so we got into some really good conversation and we are praying that the seeds that we planted through his curiosity will grow.

Stay tuned for Kazakhstan Blog it will be up shortly because there’s a chance I wont have Wifi, but it is going to be an amazing opportunity something I thought would never happen in a million years.
