It’s been quite some time since I posted a blog – far too
long. I’ve had some contact with a few of you here and there, but I’m sure many
have been wondering what’s up. Well, ‘P’ squad spent March in China where we
all refrained from using the Internet, and April in Thailand, where us men were
only able to get to online a few times. But the most significant reason for my
absence I think has to do with ‘being present’ and having my eye on the prize.
Thank you for sticking with me in this – it’s been a great two and a half
months, and there is a lot to talk about.
For now, I’m not going to say much about the month in China,
as there are some precautions I must take to honor our contacts there, and I
would much rather speak with each of you in person about the experience – it’s
hard to believe there are only two weeks left of my Race! I’ll summarize it now
by saying that China was a difficult month for me, but God used it to help me really
value our final two countries and push through to a strong finish.
Expect a blog about Thailand soon. For now, here are a few
general updates:
- I’m fully funded, with a surplus of $18.25!
Thank you all so much for your extensive support. Raising funds has been a
growing experience for me, and I’m praising God that He provided exactly the
amount I needed - ‘P’ squad will be traveling to our final debrief
location in about one week, where we’ll have a 4-5 day celebration of this
awesome experience and say our good-byes to one another - I’ll be arriving in LAX on the evening of May 28
- Before coming home, there will be a ‘last hurrah’/roadtrip/transition
experience up the west coast with a few of with my good friends: Daniel Durick,
Blake Rushing, and Kyle Johnson - God willing, I will fly into MSP on June 4 or 5,
and my family will be waiting for me in the airport!
It’s been quite a journey, and I can’t wait to catch up with
each of you in person. This month in Malaysia has thus far been a great way to
begin the transition back to the ‘States – we have fantastic ministry
opportunities, and we’re living in the heart of the city with access to all
sorts of creature comforts and unlimited Internet (a good thing and a bad
thing, but something we’ll all face as we come home). Feel free to comment here
or email me; I’d love to hear from you and perhaps begin making plans to
meet up!
