Have you ever wanted so badly to share something but not even know how to put the words together or even know where to start?

Welcome to this blog.

This may turn into a complete mess because I don’t know where to begin but I hope that it speaks directly to you. Lately I have been reading through the book of Romans. And right around chapters 5-9 there has been a topic that has kind of just been boggling my mind lately.

Grace and Mercy.

I’ve always heard the quote, “Grace is something that God gives you when you don’t deserve it and Mercy is when God doesn’t give you what you do deserve.” It’s a quote that has stuck with me for the longest time now. As I’ve been reading through Romans, and skimming through a few other books looking for anything on grace and mercy (and there’s a lot mind you!) it’s been pretty mind blowing some of the stuff I’ve read.

Grace is defined as an underserved favor or gift; the underserved forgiveness, kindness and mercy that God gives us.

“For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
Ephesians 2:8

The word says in Romans 5:20, “But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” Just take a second to think about that. Wherever and whenever sin and doubt has crept into our lives, Gods grace has increased all the more, placing a stamp of approval on our lives, covering the sin.

“It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.
Romans 9:16

There is absolutely nothing we can do to receive more or less of God’s love. It doesn’t matter if we desire it more than the person on our left or our right. It doesn’t matter if we are the “best Christian” we know. The only thing that matters is God’s mercy.

If it weren’t for God’s mercy, our lives would be heading for disaster and our sins would be sending us straight to hell. But praise the Lord for His grace and His mercy that is so undeserved, but so freely given!

I challenge you to take some time out of your day and ask Dad to reveal to you some of the graces, the undeserved gifts, that He has given you!

“Indeed, we have all received grace after grace from His fullness.”
John 1:16
