“Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and your minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

-Philippians 4:7

As we’ve already entered into 2014, with only 6 months until I leave, there is most definitely a tiny bit of nervous anticipation. But at the same time there is an overwhelming peace, one that exceeds my wildest comprehension! As I think about the fundraising process I’m reminded of God’s incredible goodness! I see some of my team mates experiencing a hint of anxiety when it comes to raising the money but for some reason it doesn’t fade me nearly as much for some reason.

In 2013, my mom found out she needed to get open heart surgery for a second time to re-replace the valve that she had replaced 6 and a half years ago. A few days before she was supposed to have the surgery she was told that the risk factor went from 5-8% up to 35%. Obviously this became a time of quite uncertainty to our family but there was one word of encouragement that really reminded us of God’s grace. As I was talking to my boss, Jason, from the Silver Ring Thing about the risk factor he said one thing that will stick with me forever. Jason’s response was, “Well, it’s a good thing we don’t serve a God of percentages.”

That quote now sticks with me today as I think about raising the funds for this mission that God has placed on my heart. I remind myself that I serve a God who has no financial limit. I serve the King of Kings. I know that He has placed this mission on my heart for a reason and for a purpose and I know that God causes EVERYTHING to work together for the good of those who LOVE God and are CALLED according to His purpose for them. (Romans 8:28) And THAT is where I find peace. I have personally seen God’s faithfulness so many times in my life, especially in the area of my finances. I know without a doubt that the God I serve is in fact Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides!

With all of that being said, it still doesn’t mean I don’t need your help, your prayers and support are so incredibly appreciated and will help me to run with endurance this race that God has set before me. (Hebrews 12:1) Any amount whether big or small will be a major blessing!
