Hello everyone!
Long time, no blog! Sorry about that! Last month was a difficult time getting decent enough internet to do anything really!
We had a great time in Swaziland and really enjoyed the country and the people so much!
This month we are now in Botswana doing something called Unsung Heroes month! Unsung Heroes consists of our team spending the month searching for potential contacts for future World Racers to come in and partner with. So we have been spending this month just listening to Holy Spirit along with researching ministries and churches in the area of Maun, Botswana. Then once we find a lead, we contact them, and then set up a meeting with them to see if they have what it takes to be a future contact! Then we pray about it and if we feel like they are a good fit then we submit them to Adventures In Missions and the office takes it from there and conducts another interview and makes the final decision.
So we arrived in Maun on April 2nd and had a few rainy nights of camping and then began our search. We have found quite a few ministries to meet with and set out to contact them. Unfortunately, some phone numbers and email addresses haven’t worked but we have been able to meet with a few!
Here are a few of the ones I’ve had the opportunity to meet with:
Bana Ba Letsatsi operates a rehabilitation center that offers a place of safety for orphans and vulnerable children registered with them. From this center they provide ongoing support in the form of counseling, education, skills training, daily meals, sports, clothes, transport, medical attention, hygiene facilities and many other services and activities. Drugs and alcohol are a major problem in Botswana and Bana Ba Letsatsi seems to provide a nice safe place for youth to come and remove themselves from those temptations.
Adri and myself had the opportunity to visit this church this past Sunday. We showed up a bit early and got front row seats to see what God was doing. The service began at about 8:30am and ended around 12:20pm. We really enjoyed worshipping with them and seeing their passion for Jesus and their desire to know Him more. Their vision is to see a redeemed, restored, and notably progressive people in the Maun area.
This has been a great month so far and it’s been great seeing how Holy Spirit has been working! Make sure you check out my other teammates blogs to see the other ministries we have been meeting with as well!
Only just over a month is left on the Race and then we’re off to America! Please continue to keep our team in your prayers as we follow Holy Spirit wherever he may lead this month!
