Hey Fans!
This blog post is not about people who pee their pants, although I wish it were because everyone enjoys a good pants peer.
This blog is actually inspired by a Jeep. More specifically the Jeep’s story with one man, who then relayed what he’d learned to me.
Bob Goff, author of “Love Does”, tells the story of his cherry red, lifted jeep. His story starts when he got smashed into by a little old lady. The jeep flipped, threw him from the vehicle, and was totaled. Bob was well enough, and proceeded to buy back his jeep from the insurance company. It was different though. Now it was quirky and unique, or as Bob would put it, had loads more character and a story to tell. The jeep now jerked, steered crooked and leaked oil everywhere. Bob loved it.
Bob compared his jeep to some people he knows. These people have been in an obvious collision with a little old lady named Jesus and are now very different. They are termed “leaky people” because everywhere they go they seem to leak Jesus on everything and everyone they touch. Just like Bob’s jeep, they have a clear story to their lives, and they tell it often, either verbally or through the unique leakiness they now spill.
I have been blessed to know many people like this. It is so magnificent. They completely glow with Jesus, spilling out everywhere they walk. It is contagious, because instead of becoming uglier when they leak, they are more attractive. When they leave you’re not offended that they leaked, your curious on how you can leak too.
I believe God did this on purpose, to spread his kingdom. He simply collides with people, introduces them to this abundant life of freedom and whimsy, then these people subconsciously advertise what it’s like to really know and follow Jesus. It’s a great plan.
I began to pray for something similar to this a few years ago. I called it being a “room changer”. Changing the atmosphere of a room toward Jesus and abundant life, just by walking into it. I want the first thing people see and think is, “he is somehow different”. Frankly, even if I’m not acting weirdly different, the one that is in me and runs me is so very different from the world that others will HAVE to sense it. I’m passionate about people knowing the real, living Jesus, not a boring, inaccurate, replacement some of us have learned about growing up.
So I strongly desire to be a leaky person. I want to leak lots and leak often. I also want it to naturally flow out of who God created me to be in him. I don’t want to turn it off and on, I want it on, always. Because you never know when some one needs a little Jesus splashed on them, or when some one is looking to learn how to spill a little Jesus themselves.
That is why I love when people ask me WHY I am the way I am. I get to tell them once upon a time, long ago, I got into a terrific, life altering accident with a little old lady named Jesus. Truth is, I won’t ever recover. I don’t mind, because now I leak.
Leak a little 🙂
