Walk by any Thai street vendor and you will see a t-shirt, a tank top, or a sticker that says: “Same Same but different“. It is an extremely popular Thai saying that is used to describe when something is kind of similar but its not because something makes it different.
This month my team is working with Lighthouse ministries in multiple facets of their ministry. The last World Race squad that served with Lighthouse just last month began the “She’s worth more campaign” which sheds light to the sex trade industry.
On our first day here a t-shirt in their coffee shop caught my attention. It incorporates the popular “same same but different, Thai saying and combines it with the truth that “She’s worth more”
Part of ending sex slavery is cutting it off at its core. Shine a light to every red light district across the world and show them that a woman is worth more.
When describing Men and Women the popular Thai saying can be applied:
“Same, Same, but different.”
.Yes men and women are both humans
.Yes men and women are created in the image of God
*but different.
God made women for a different purpose than what He created man for. And all throughout scripture he calls Men to step up and to love women genuinely and to love them well.
This month I have been reading “Why not Women” and it is definitely healing parts of my spirit that have been bruised before and I could not think of a better month to read this book in than when sharing with women that God has a unique purpose for their life has His daughter. My favorite point I have read so far is that, in the creation story every time God created something he said “it was good”. Then He created man and for the first time God said “it is not good for man to be alone” So he made Eve from Adams rib. That is when the Garden of Eden became paradise when the woman entered it.
It is my prayer this month that the bar girls I meet will be overtaken with the Fathers love for them. It is also my prayer that the men buying these women realize that She is worth more. Women are created different and for a unique and special purpose.
It is by no coincidence that the two teams chosen by God to serve with Lighthouse this month are named: Love Well, and Genuine Overflow. Please have turn this journey of our teams into your journey this month by sharing our post, sharing the stories of the girls we will encounter. Let her voice be heard and prove that She is Worth More. Shine the light of Jesus in the Red Light District.
