My name is Jade Zaharoff and I am officially a World Racer!! Woo!
So just a little about myself – I am 23 years old and have been in the working world for just over a year now doing marketing. I grew up in Vienna, VA, a town just outside of Washington, DC, with two loving and supportive parents. Having grown up in a Christian home, I had always claimed to be a Christian and without a doubt, have known that our God is a real and living God for as long as I can remember. But then college happened. I went to Christopher Newport University, and honestly could not have asked for a better college experience. I was a student athlete there, and I definitely took that title to the extreme. Running for the Cross Country/Track teams and excelling in school were my top two priorities, and God had quickly become an after-thought without me even realizing it. Then junior year of college it hit me. I was no longer seeking the Lord or the plan that He had for my life and I desperately needed my Savior. Since that time, I have fallen in love with Jesus all over again, and am determined to be obedient to whatever calling God places on my heart. And lucky for me, this call lately has been to go into missions, which I am beyond excited about!
Just a few things that I love…running. The ocean. Water skiing. Chocolate. My family. God's creation. My friends. Hockey. Exploring new places. Country music. Russia (not that I've actually been, but hopefully one day!). Strawbs. Early mornings. Summer nights. The steeple chase. Sushi. Experiencing new cultures. Coffee. Pink fairy lilies. Fresh air. Working out. All four seasons. Sweet potato fries. Southern California. Sitting in front of the fire. Hiking. Ice cream. And sea lions. Oh and snow. Okay that's probably enough:)
But more than all of those great things, I love Jesus. And I absolutely love the fact that He is working in my heart and has called me on such an exciting adventure aka The World Race!
So, starting in January 2014, I will be traveling to 11 different countries over 11 months to serve "the least of these" in God's kingdom. It will be an amazing opportunity to serve, to grow in my relationship with the Lord, and to experience life outside of the U.S. I feel so honored to be called on this journey and pray that you will partner with me in support.
