SUP DAWGS!
HEBREWS 4:16 says this ” Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need ”
I have been reading this book and it has been covering this verse in Exodus 34 where God states His name and in that reveals His character.
Exodus 34:6 ” and he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, ‘The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness…”
I absolutely love this because here we see God say this is who I am and the first thing he says is I am COMPASSIONATE AND GRACIOUS. In other words He is merciful, giving mercy freely. I know we read the bible and we know people that are quick to say God is awful and not merciful because when we read the old testament there is a whole lot of talk of bloody wars. Which is true and it can be a challenge to talk about, but we forget the countless stories where God gives mercy relentlessly, it is just who is.
For example the story of Jonah, Jonah runs away from what God is calling him to do. The reason is not that he is scared of the Ninevites but because he knows that God is going to forgive them and show them mercy. So Jonah is like nah fam I am going to sail as far west as I can so that the Ninevites do not receive mercy. Of course God has different plans and has Jonah swallowed up by a fish. The Ninevites were savages and would skin people alive and so I understand Jonah when he is like I don’t want God to give mercy to my enemies. Yet God still does.
That is the cool thing about God though is that He gives MERCY to whomever, whether you like ’em or not. That is just who is, and it is humbling because if we are to imitate God, we need to be quick to extend mercy to our enemies and not just to our friends and family.
That said, now let us run to God in confidence because He has nothing but compassion and grace for us, like HEBREWS 4:16.
These past couple of days I have been running to God for Mercy because I am broken and in need of help. Whether that be because of the times I fall short or because I need help fundraising because I am not the best at it. I want to encourage y’all to run to Him because He is already running towards you.
Also I am blessed on how God is working in my life right now with all the support He has given me. So I am so very thankful for all you guys that are allowing God to work in you with prayers and financial support for this mission. Let me know who I should be talking to that has a heart for missions. I am on my way to $5000 and I am trying to hit that goal by November 2nd. So lets keep it going Fam!
