For the past three years, I have been working as a project engineer at Brinkmann Constructors. During my time with Brinkmann, including two years in St. Louis and one in Michigan, I have learned a lot about the construction industry and made many great friends.

I had been thinking about what I wanted to do after my project in Michigan was complete. My interest in international travel, along with fond memories of my service trip with Engineers Without Borders to Bolivia in college, led me to an organization called the World Race.

The World Race is an 11-month Christian mission trip to 11 countries around the world. Participants have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus and serve others in a variety of ways ranging from ministering to victims of human trafficking and caring for children in orphanages to assisting with natural disaster recovery and helping provide access to clean drinking water.

I am excited to share that I have committed to going on the World Race starting in October! My team and I will travel to the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador.

There are a couple ways you can help! First and foremost, I ask that you keep me and my team in your prayers. This will be a challenging experience for all of us. Please pray for our health (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) and that we would be open to letting God use us however He sees fit.

Second, like most missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. I need to raise $18,700 to cover all of my field expenses for the 11-month trip. I ask that you prayerfully consider supporting me. You can do so by going to jacobcolter.theworldrace.org and clicking the “Donate” button.

I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to walk away from a “traditional” career for the time being to spend 11 months as a missionary. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to sharing this journey on with all of you. Thank you in advance for your support!
