Throughout my journey on the world race it took month nine for me to realize this. That every country we’ve been to our contacts have offered their best! The best that they have, they even taken a back seat and allowed us to eat at their table. When was the last time that you’ve offered your best when even family comes into your house (it’s really God’s house)?
This is a question that struck me the other day when I walked around the house to ask for water to flush the toilet. Yes, hand flushing toilets with water coming from a jug. It actually pretty cool! But anyways, as soon as I walked around the back I noticed our contact and his family eating on the floor outside. Eating from big silver bowls with their hands and having a great time. This amazed me to the point that I had to write this blog.
- DO we offer our best?
DO we as lovers of Christ give our best in times of confusion? Picking out something to eat for guest can be a hard choice. But what if Jesus was coming to eat today? Oh man that would be tough but it really isn’t. Just give your best! That’s what we’ve experienced here on the world race, contacts always give their best, it may not be a lot but it’s their best!
- Do WE offer our best?
WE as followers of Jesus should want to offer our best to guest that come into our house. Even in the Old Testament God promised to give people a land flowing with milk and honey. This was because God wanted to give them the best he had. We without any hesitation need to give our best foods to the people coming in.
- Do we OFFER our best?
OFFERing needs to come from the heart, the soft and warming heart Jesus gave you. Offering needs to come from a place that means love. Offering needs to come from a place that says “Please eat of this food for it’s the best in all my house” Offer all that you have not from a place of expecting something in return or something better from the Lord but from a place of free giving. Christ freely gave so freely give J
- Do we offer OUR best?
OUR hearts should be in a place of giving. We’re smaller than ourselves because the Spirit inside us is bigger than our minds. So let’s start using our Spirit not our minds. The Spirit inside us all has the potential to turn even the hardest of hearts to the softest part of the body. Let’s unleash the Spirit of OUR giving hearts to offer the best.
- Do we offer our BEST?
BEST you got? Give the best thing on your shelf, give the best thing on your table, and give the best things you have to the guests that come into your house. Jesus gave you his best when on the cross and when you came into his kingdom.
