My life so far has been a wonderful book in the making

Chapter 1- A Child’s Dream

Jacob’s childhood was incredible. He spent many days playing in the yard with cousins and friends. He enjoyed birthday parties at Chuck E Cheese. His mum taught him how to ride his new teenage mutant ninja turtle bicycle. Although she promised not to let go,  little “Jake” ended up in the thorn bush at the bottom of the hill. Jacob enjoyed throwing catch with his pops and beating him in a long bow shooting tournament. Jacob went on family vacations to Fall Creek Falls( Check it out if you are in Tennessee) and to Myrtle Beach. Life was bliss. Nothing could could go wrong for little “Diesel”.

Chapter 2- The Day I Realized.

Larry, Jacob’s Uncle, had just picked him up after a basketball tournament in his local town. Larry had been taking Jacob to church and talking about how great God is. Jacob was really intrigued about Jesus Christ and felt the Holy Spirit moving through him. Jacob then asked Larry how he could be saved. That night, sitting in a Sonic parking lot, he asked the Lord into his heart and to forgive him for all his sins. That was the Day he realized who his True Father is.

Chapter 3- Dazed and Confused

Debbie and Jeff, Jake’s pops and mum, were struggling with their marriage. They thought it would be best for them to get a divorce. Jacob was devastated and truly angry   with the whole situation. His mum was struggling to find herself after the divorce. She became lost in sin and decided that being a lesbian would ease her pain. Jeff became bitter and angry, believing that it was all his fault. While Jacob’s parents were split up, Jacob questioned his faith and gave up hope that his parents would ever get back together. Deep down he resented his parents for what they had done. He was upset every time he had to go back and forth from house to house. He was angry that his parents missed most of his teenage years– They didn’t even get to see many of his baseball games. They were busy making great sacrifices: his dad was working two jobs and his mother was working at night. It seems to me that Jacob was a little ungrateful for all things that his parents were doing for him, but he was dazed and confused.

Chapter 4- John (One of many of Jake’s true friends)

John Winfree was brought into Jacob’s life in 7th grade. Jacob was in desperate need of a friend that would not criticize him because his mother was being gay. A lot of the other kids were nice, but their parents were hesitant to let their hang out with him. John’s parents, however, would let Jacob come over and sometimes let John go over to Jacob’s house. Jacob was very thankful that the Winfrees took him in like he was another son. They showed him love and never talked bad about his parents. They vicariously showed him how a Christian family should live. John and Jake grew closer and closer together over their high school years. They would talk about girls, sports and even God. John asked Jake if he would like to start going to his youth group.  Jacob said yes, and at the youth group, Jacob rededicated his life to Christ his senior year of high school.

Chapter 5- A Grandmother’s Prayer

God placed a great women in Jacob’s life, his Grandmother. She is a beautiful woman with a great Faith in the Lord. Several times a week, Jacob’s Grandmother would call to check up on him. To see if he was keeping himself out of trouble and making sure he was still doing good in school. At the end of every phone call she promised Jake that his mother and father would get back together. Jacob thought his Grandmother was crazy and insane. She told him that she would pray everyday until it came true. She never lost faith in her Father. She knew, that incredible things could be done through her savior. After seven years of praying it came true. Debbie and Jeff got remarried Jake’s senior year of high school. What a miracle!

Chapter 6- College

After high school Jacob attended Union University. He met some amazing people that challenged him in every aspect of his life. He was truly blessed with the friendships that he made there. He learned how to give all his anger away to God and learned that loving people is the best medicine. He knows that everybody wants to be loved, no matter what they have been through or what sin that they are dealing with. Everybody has sin so that makes us all the same in a way. So why not be there for his friends, and even others that disagree with his faith. Jacob no longer resents his parents and he now realizes all the sacrifices they made to better his life. He now knows that he can’t fight his battles alone. He knows now that he will never lose faith and that prayer works. He is grateful for the life God has given him. He will trust in God forever and forever…amen!
