Dear Friends,
I want to share and rejoice with you regarding a wonderful opportunity with which God has blessed me!
Adventures in Missions, a Christian organization, hosts a missions trip known as The World Race. I have applied and been accepted to participate in their Gap Year Program, September 2017 through May 2018. The program consists of missions work spanning three different continents over a period of nine months. My specific route includes Colombia, Ecuador, Cambodia, Thailand, and Albania. I plan to be traveling and evangelizing with a large group of other college-aged teammates and adult leaders.
During the course of the trip, my teammates and I will be serving the local communities we visit. We will be undertaking construction, conducting vacation Bible school for children, administering care to orphans, tending to patients, participating in evangelism outreach, and spending time building relationships with people in the local communities. I plan to make myself be of service in any way that is needed. Throughout each activity, our squad will focus on making Christ known and bringing His kingdom to any and all with whom we interact. I am very excited for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and am also thrilled to experience new cultures different from my own.
I would like ask for your help and support in two ways. First, I ask for prayers for myself and my fellow teammates as we make our way across the world. We desire that God give us strength and compassion to shine His light, share His love, and speak truth in His Name. Personally, knowing that those who have made an impact on my life are praying for me will increase my confidence and provide immense emotional support. Second, I ask for financial support. Each racer is responsible for raising $14,951 for the expenses associated with this trip. The funds will cover all practical costs, including meals, lodging, flights, bus and sea travel, medical insurance, training camp, coaching, administration, and debriefing.
I readily admit that asking for help with fundraising is extremely humbling. I have had to battle my prideful nature on a daily basis, including letting go of my desire to try to earn the funds all on my own. I am learning to completely surrender and to place all my trust in God. Lowering my pride and asking for help is God’s way of reminding me not to take matters into my own hands, but to recognize that, if I am meant to go on this trip, HE will send me. He will provide. I would greatly appreciate your consideration of a financial contribution that will assist me with this incredible opportunity to participate in advancing His kingdom throughout the world!
My ultimate purpose in life is to follow the calling of Christ and to make Him known. God willing, this is the perfect opportunity to be a radiating light, shining Him through my life.
