It’s been a busy week in Colombia. After the couple days we spent with Cristian and Paula in Medellin we traveled to Manzales where my teammate Jordan had a connection. We ended up staying in the home of a woman she met in Costa Rica. This woman is a wonderful person full of life and joy, who happens to be a prostitute and she’s convinced that God can not use her because of her sin. Let me tell you, she’s so wrong. God has been pursuing her so passionately and desperately, He speaks to her through dreams and sends strangers to remind her how loved she is, and he uses her in huge ways. Because of her we got the opportunity to do home ministry and to encourage and pray over so many. It was incredible to see how God is already using her and to see how much He will continue to use her. After Manzales we headed to Cali for a few days and there we stayed in a hostel instead of a private home. God continued to show us His favor in that the hostel owner took an immediate liking to us, we got the opportunity to minister to her, do a Bible study together, and at the end to present her with her own Bible (kind of unintentionally actually…it was my Spanish to English Bible that I let her use and my teammate didn’t know it was mine… So she said the woman could keep it. So ya, my Bible lives in Colombia now, lol. God definitely had a hand in that though! She was so excited). While in Cali we were also waylaid several times by friendly elderly women who apparently just needed someone to listen and we were blessed to be allowed to do so. It was an awesome three days. (Plus the hostel owner gave us free soda, so that was exciting). Now, after a nine hour bus trip (it was supposed to be 12 hours, so hallelujah for that!), We are in Pasto and have met up again with the rest of our squad. Tonight is our very last night in Colombia, and tomorrow morning we will be headed to Ecuador!
Please pray for safe travels and for wisdom in discerning what Gods will is for us in Ecuador.
Ciao for now!
P.S – I’ve joked around a lot and I’ve told about a lot of good times and amazing things that God is doing and it’s all true, but I don’t want people to forget that there is also so much darkness here. Addiction, homelessness, abuse, violence, rage, sexual depravity, predator spirits, demonic influences…it’s all here. But God is good, and He is light, and He is breaking through.
As it says in John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Please keep Colombia in your prayers!
