How many times have you done something that you didn’t want to do? At times, this will be a daily occurence for me. The very thing happened to me whan Sarah asked me to go to the store after dinner one night. Now don’t get me wrong, I love the store. I love the snacks and the stores is only 100 meters from our ministry site. I had been there numerous times before, but was not in the mood to go at the time. I did go and was doubly blessed by God. I had not been to the store in around 4 days. The last time was w the our translator who helped me talk to the people. I had been scoping out the goods at the other stores in the area that were further away. You always have to go for the best snacks in my mind. As soon as we got to the store, the old lady said “Jackie”. She was so excited to see me. I had no idea that she knew my name. She held my hand until I bent down so she could kiss me. I never knew that my going to the store and just smiling had such an influence on this lady. I never understand how I can be influential. I think at tiems just smiling will show God’s love more than anything else.
The other thing I want to talk about is church. I love church here in Thailand. It is so awesome to here people sing praise songs in two different languages. I think this will put me in awe every time that I here it this year. The thing I truly love is the way the people pray. The church always ends with prayer requests. Oce a request is heard, the whole church prays for it at the same time out loud. I find this fascinating. It will be awhile before I will be able to pray aloud while everyone else is praying. I know that eventually I will get used to it and join in, but for now I will pray silently.
I have enjoyed my time in Thailand. It has been a great experience and I can’t wait until I go to Cambodia.
