“It isn’t me, it is You.”

Throughout the Race the comment, “He likes you,” I’ve heard a lot, sometimes as a joke and other times not as a joke. I’ve never been an approachable, likable person, so to have people make those comments was weird, especially because I don’t like the attention.

My response to those comments has been, “It’s not me, it’s the Lord.” Now I didn’t realize how much truth there was to that, until month 8 in Nicaragua.

In Nicaragua, we got the honor of working with an amazing organization and group of people. I enjoyed connecting with the staff and the children at the home. And like past months, I had the boys telling me that they weren’t much younger than me and it would work out. All I could do was laugh because I knew they didn’t know what they were talking about.

But that month, the Lord showed me that the reason why people really are drawn, or in this case, attracted to me is not because of me, but because of Him.

I’ve learned to love all those I come in contact with unconditionally. To love them the way Jesus would. This world is so drained and empty of the love of the Father that when we come in to love them they are confused by it and associate God’s love with the love of the world, but this is different. This isn’t a romantic love I have for you, but the love of a sister to a brother or another sister. The love I am giving you is the love the Father has given to me.

The children, the adults, they are all drawn to the love that the Lord has given me the honor of being allowed to share and spread to them. I can’t take credit for any of it, because I know that it isn’t me, it is all Him.

I love how John the Baptist put it, “…’I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” (John 3:28-30)

God has done some pretty amazing things in me and through me, impossible things. And that is how we bring glory to the Father, when we let Him come in and do the impossible through us.

He found me in my darkest moments and transformed me into an approachable, likable person. I’m not who I was three years ago. I’m completely different and it is all because the Lord loved me enough to come down and show me the light in the midst of the darkness.

Yup, I’m here and I’m here to show the world the love of Jesus and let them know that it isn’t me, but it is all Him.
