Fundraising update:  I need to raise $900 more in 2 weeks to make my July 1st deadline and stay on the Race!  Please consider making a small donation to get me to my goal! Every bit counts! 🙂

Red lights.  Dancing women.  Ping pong show signs. Crowded bars.

And men, men, men.

My May was spent in the red-light district of Phuket, Thailand, on the streets of Patong. Bangla Road is an infamous road.  It's where desperate Thai women come looking for a hope and a future; instead they find drunk male tourists looking for a night of escape from their loneliness and brokenness.

Most of our time was spent forming relationships with the dancers and bar girls, and trying to show them love without an endgame and friends that don't want to use them.  We met and befriended some incredible women, like Jeni, Ann, Joon, Deng, and Dow.

We also had many amazing encounters with bar owners, promoters, street prostitutes, trafficked women, lady boys, and tourists.

It has been difficult to describe and convey what we experienced this month.  Instead of me fumbling for words, I would like to show you this video from my teammate, Sarah Kathryn.  It does an amazing job of conveying Bangla Road.
